Dr. William Moreau
DC, DACBSP®, FACSM
Dr. William Moreau, DC, DACBSP, FACSM, is an evidence-guided chiropractic sports medicine clinician. He is the Chief Medical Officer at the University of Western States (UWS) in Portland Oregon. At UWS Moreau leads an interdisciplinary clinic focused on providing high quality, whole-person integrated health care.
For ten years he led sports medicine at the United States Olympic Committee as director of clinics in 2009 after more than 25 years of clinical practice. In 2017 he was promoted to Vice President of sports medicine where he oversaw USOC sports medicine related activities; including medical care at the Olympic/Paralympic Games and the USOC Clinics. He led the USOC National Medical Network and formulated medical standards of care for the USOC.
Moreau served as Team USA’s medical director at the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, and as Chief Medical Officer for Team USA at the 2016 Summer Rio Games and the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea. As Chief Medical Officer he directs medical service lines for Team USA athletes. In 2017 he was appointed to the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) Medical Commission.
Dr. Moreau founded the United States Coalition for the Prevention of Illness and Injury in Sport. The coalition is one of eleven IOC international centers of research excellence.
Dr. Moreau has more than 35 years of clinical expertise in sports medicine. He is dedicated to advancing patient-centered, evidence-guided clinical care pathways delivered through integrated multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Dr. Moreau has delivered over 500 invited lectures and has been featured in Bloomberg Businessweek, USA Today, TIME, ESPN, NPR, NBC, and Kaiser Health News.
Moreau is an avid conservationist. He lives in Black Forest Colorado with his wife.
Dr. Robert Nelson
Dr. Robert Nelson, graduated Cum Laude in 1986 from Logan College of Chiropractic. Dr. Nelson is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, (D.A.C.B.S.P.®). Postgraduate education also includes courses as a Fellow of the International Association of Clinical Acupuncture (F.I.A.C.A.), Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (C.C.E.P.), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), Chiropractic Rehabilitation Diplomate Program, Certified Graston Technique, and Active Release Technique.
Dr. Nelson has taught postgraduate courses in Sports Medicine for The Palmer Institute for Professional Advancement, Northwestern Health Sciences University, Logan College of Chiropractic, ProSport Chiropractic, and the Colorado Chiropractic Association.
He has published articles in the Journal of Sports Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. Dr. Nelson has served several years on the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians as president and as a board of director. He has been the president of the Colorado Chiropractic Sports Council for the past six years. Athletes from Nike Youth Soccer, to Pro Rodeo, and Pro Soccer are among those treated by Dr. Nelson.
In 2004, Dr. Nelson was honored for the fourth time as Chiropractor of the Year by the Colorado Chiropractic Association, as well as receiving his fourth award as Sports Chiropractor of the Year. He also maintains a web page for his clinical services.
Dr. Andrew Klein
MS, DC, DACBSP®
Dr. Andy Klein received a BA in Physical Education from Lehman College in 1981, and an MS Ed. in Exercise Physiology from Queens College in 1983. He received his chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1987. He is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is board certified in Chiropractic Sports Medicine by the ACBSP. Professional appointments include appointed chiropractor for the USA at the Goodwill Games in 1998, and the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia in 2000. He served as the team chiropractor for the Minnesota Vikings from 2002-2006. He developed the Physical Therapy 3 course, which emphasizes active care and rehabilitation, at Northwestern Chiropractic College and has instructed there since 1995. He teaches postgraduate education for multiple chiropractic colleges, and has been practicing full-time in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Park Nicollet Clinic since 1999.
Dr. Dale Buchberger
MS, PT, DC, CSCS®, DACBSP®
Dr. Buchberger received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the National College of Chiropractic (NCC), a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from SUNY Upstate Medical University and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is a former associate professor at New York Chiropractic College. He is currently an Adjunct Instructor of Sports Medicine for the University of Western States. He is a Diplomate and 3-time past-President of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Dr. Buchberger currently serves as an official Chiropractic consultant for the Auburn Doubleday’s (Single-A affiliate Washington Nationals) and Syracuse University Athletics. He is the President of Active Physical Therapy Solutions PC, Auburn, NY. The American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians named Dr. Buchberger 2009 Sports Chiropractor of the Year.
Dr. Cisco Reyes
Cisco’s expertise encompasses aspects of strength and conditioning. More specifically, Cisco has published several articles pertaining to neuromuscular adaptations to strength training and also investigates athlete profiling. In addition to Linfield, Cisco is the owner and head athletic performance specialist for Reyes Integrated Sports Enhancement Training and Consulting, or RISE, where his mission is to elevate and empower youth through strength training. He integrates his work at RISE with his teaching, research, and service as an academic at Linfield. Finally, Cisco also serves as the Oregon State/Provincial Director for the National Strength and Conditioning Association® (NSCA®).
Dr. Michael Lovich
DC, CCSP®, DACNB
Dr. Michael Lovich is a Board-Certified Chiropractic Functional Neurologist, and Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and holds a MS in sports medicine with additional training in brain based functional medicine, and functional movement-based rehabilitation. He has been medical director and on medical staff for various organizations and events in professional, amateur, collegiate and high school athletics. At Delta S Performance, Functional Neurology and Sports Medicine, with clinics in the Denver and Boston metro areas, they specialize in integrating the physical aspects of sports medicine and chiropractic care with the neurological and physiological systems that are often overlooked.
Dr. Phil Snell
Dr. Phillip Snell has a clinical chiropractic practice, Solutions Sports and Spine, Inc. which resides in Evolution Healthcare and Fitness in Portland, OR. His practice is focused on rehab of lumbar disc herniation and sports injuries. Dr. Snell also maintains adjunct faculty status at University of Western states and lectures internationally on use of exercise interventions to help manage lumbar disc herniation. As co-creator of Dermal Traction Method, he lectures internationally on use of this manual approach to treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Dr. Emily Splichal
DPM, MS, CES
Dr. Emily Splichal, Functional Podiatrist and Human Movement Specialist, is the Founder of EBFA Global, Creator of the Barefoot Training Specialist® Certification, Author of Barefoot Strong and inventor of Naboso Barefoot Technology. With over 19 years in the fitness industry, Dr. Splichal has dedicated her medical career towards studying postural alignment and human movement as it relates to barefoot science, foot to core integration and sensory integration.
Dr. Fraser Horn
Dr. Fraser C. Horn is the Interim Dean at Pacific University and the Team Optometrist for Pacific University. He co-teaches the Sports Vision Elective at Pacific University College of Optometry and works with amateur and professional athletes. He has had the fortune of consulting with Nike and other performance companies.
Dr. Horn works to maximize vision assessment and training in order to maximize potential performance for athletes. He also works with athletes post-concussion. He enjoys working with and educating other professions on the role of vision and performance.
Dr. Adam Mohr
Dr. Mohr began practicing in Tigard, Oregon in 2007 with a focus in sports medicine. In June of 2009 Dr. Mohr and his wife Kate opened Acceleration Sports Medicine and have established strong community ties. In 2012 Dr. Mohr completed a volunteer rotation at the USOC in Colorado Springs. Also, in 2012 he chaired the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians Annual Sports Science Symposium and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Taking an active role in the profession and community has always been a part of Dr. Mohr. Dr. Mohr works outside of the office as a team physician for Pacific University (OR), Crossfire Soccer Club and as medical director for Uberthons.
Dr. Brian Bettencourt
Born and raised in California, Dr. Brian Bettencourt graduated college with a degree in neurobiology and physiology from UC Davis. After graduating from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, he completed his family medicine residency at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Bettencourt completed his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of South Alabama where he stayed on as faculty at the College of Medicine and became the Team Physician for Division 1 Athletics.
Dr. Bettencourt feels that practicing medicine is a calling deep within. He believes that “health is the first wealth” and loves the idea of keeping people healthy and active so they can get the most out of life. Athletes and active people make up a significant part of his practice as he serves as the Team Physician for Pacific University Athletics, University of Portland Athletics (Soccer and Basketball) and Portland Community College Athletics (Soccer).
Eric Pitkanen is in his tenth year as a member of the Pacific athletic training program. He was promoted to head athletic trainer in July 2013. Pitkanen has worked primarily with the football program but also works closely with a number of other sports programs during the winter and spring. Pitkanen worked as an athletic training intern at Vanderbilt with the football program and the school’s summer camp program. In 2009 he spent six months as a training intern with the Denver Broncos. Pitkanen began his training career at Portland State, where he was a graduate assistant trainer from 2007 to 2009. Pitkanen earned his BS in Exercise and Sport Science from Oregon State University in 2007 and earned an MS in Community Health from Portland State University in 2009.
Dr. Noah Goodwill
Dr. Noah Goodwill earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Washington State University in 1996, and his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree (D.C.) in 2002 from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. He holds certifications in Active Release Techniques (ART®), Graston Technique®, and Complete Concussion Management (CCMI), and has advanced training in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Functional Movement Systems (FMS). Dr. Goodwill is an Adjunct faculty member at both the University of Western States and Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Goodwill has been the Official Team Chiropractor for both the MLS Champion Portland Timbers FC and 2-time NWSL National Champion Portland Thorns FC since 2013. He also enjoys treating athletes who participate in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), WHL, NFL, NBA, NWSL, and MLS.
Dr. Matt Hemsley
Dr. Matthew Hemsley is a chiropractic physician who specializes in performance-based treatment of sports and fitness-related injuries. He received his BA in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from California State University Chico in 1992 and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 1997.
Over his career, he has had the opportunity to integrate his practice into the fitness club setting working first hand with patients on his active based protocols. Empowering patients to reconnect with themselves from a movement perspective is what drives Dr. Hemsley as a clinician.
Dr. Hemsley served as the team chiropractor for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2013-2017 and continues to consult with various NBA teams and players. He currently practices at Acceleration Sports Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Jim Kurtz
DC, DACRB, DACBSP®, CSCS®, CES, PES
Dr. Kurtz is the clinic director of NW Sports Rehab in Federal Way and Seattle Washington. He is in his 10th season as the team chiropractor for the Seattle Seahawks. He is a former member of the Sports Medicine staff of the PGA TOUR, and the Seattle Sounders, FC. He was Team USA's chiropractor to the Parapan American Games in Rio in 2007 and the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Dr. Kurtz was named 2014 & 2015 Sports Chiropractor of the Year by the ACA Sports Council and the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. He also received the 2015 UWS Alumnus of the Year award.
Dr. Lynne Kushnirenko
Dr. Lynne Kusnirenko was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she competed at the national level in baton twirling/rhythmic gymnastics for Team Canada into her mid 20’s. Her sport introduced her to chiropractic. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2001 with her Honors Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience. She attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) and graduated in 2005. She practiced in Toronto until 2007 where she found herself starting to work with auto racing athletes and then moved to Charlotte, NC to continue to work in the sport of auto racing. She attained her CCSP® in 2015.

Dr. Montserrat Andreys
Dr. Montserrat Andreys is a sports medicine chiropractor, dancer and lover of all things art. She works at Evolution Healthcare and Fitness in Portland, OR where she also founded HEART healthcare for artists. Through HEART she not only provides clinical treatment, but she is also able to provide sports medicine education to artists via social media (IG\FB), workshops, lectures and has also participate on panels and podcasts.
Dr. Kevin deWeber
MD, FAAFP, FACSM, RMSK, CRP
Dr. Kevin deWeber is a Sports Medicine and Family Medicine physician and a nationally recognized author, teacher and clinician. He is full-time Faculty at the SW Washington Sports Medicine Fellowship and Family Medicine Residency in Vancouver, WA. As a Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer, he does bedside diagnostic imaging and ultrasound-guided injections, and teaches Ultrasound around the country. He was one of a handful of Team USA Physicians at the Rio 2016 Olympics and cared for several Olympic teams prior to London 2012 Olympics.
After serving for 25 years on active duty, he retired from Army service as a Colonel and returned home to Washington in 2013.
Guido Van Ryssegem
MS, ATC, CSCS, NBFE
Guido been in clinical practice for 37 years and is an experienced international lecturer and presenter for numerous organizations, including EXOS, Perform Better, the NATA, NSCA and ACSM. He is the founder and owner of Safe Recovery, LLC and in 2017 he founded the China Institute of Sports Medicine and Exercise Science in Beijing, China. Guido has published in international journals and is a reviewer for the Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. He has practiced for the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles professional baseball teams as well as Oregon State University. He has received the 2012 National Athletic Trainers’ Association International Service Award.
Dr. Beverly Harger
Dr. Beverly Harger is a chiropractic radiologist with 30 years of clinical experience. She graduated Magnum Cum Laude from University of Western States in 1987. In 1992, she completed her radiology residency at University of Western States (UWS) and attained her diplomate status from the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (ACBR). She is a professor of radiology and director of the MS is diagnostic imaging (MS-DI) as well as the chiropractic radiologist for the University of Western States. She was named UWS Outstanding Faculty in 2013.
