The Sports Medicine Specialist- Chiropractor is an expert in conservative management of sports injuries.
Responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of sports medicine and musculoskeletal disorders,
including emergency response to acute health problems. The Sports Medicine Specialist-Chiropractor is
highly skilled in performance therapy, including evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders,
prescription of corrective exercise, manual therapy, and guiding guests through the transition from injury
to optimal performance. The Sports Medicine Specialist-Chiropractor has advanced certifications in
strength and conditioning and manual therapy and should be familiar with basic therapeutic modalities
and must have a passion for educating others in sport and exercise medicine, including development of a
curriculum for on-site and virtual presentations. This role reports to the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Guest Service: Evaluate and treat sport and exercise related health
conditions with manual therapy, corrective exercise, and modalities such as
extracorporeal shockwave therapy by following protocols established by
physician. Collaborate with Performance Science and Fitness to provide
integrated performance therapy. Educates guests on treatment options
providing follow up through detailed assessments and treatment options.
Respond to emergencies and acute conditions when required.
75% - Education: Provides education to broader medical professional community
both internally and externally concerning treatment for certain medical
conditions, products and available services. Prepares written and verbal
education materials for Canyon Ranch staff as well as collaborating with
Marketing for guest education materials on services. Provides individualized
and public speaking engagements as the specialist for extracorporeal
shockwave and generate referrals. Educates internal medical department
staff members as well as external departments such as Life Enhancement
Center, Program Advising, Reservations, and Membership staff members
effectively communicating the Canyon Ranch services offered to guests and
their purpose.
10% - Administrative & Sales: Communicates and collaborates with other H&P
practitioners for continuity of care for guest. Complete all documentation,
inter-staff communication, and follow up for guest consults in a timely
fashion. Participate in clinical and administrative meetings and committees
as available (i.e. H&P; Quarterly meetings, Grand Rounds, Ranch-wide Info
meetings, etc.). Actively engages in the retail sales of various products and
can effectively communicate the benefits, treatment modalities and options
available to the Guests.
